Taking Photos For Google Maps

Like every year we are taking photographs of each individual tree on myforestfarm. It takes several days to make almost 2000 pictures of all trees. We are carrying a big print out of the map with us so that we can keep the overview. Later we put the pictures on google maps where all pictures of the individual trees can be viewed at their actual geographic position.
View the map here.

Visit After One Year

I have not visited myforestfarm since we planted the forest trees in 2009.
When I saw the first Acacia and Teak I was amazed how big the seedlings had been growing in only one year. Gabby captured the exciting moment on his mobile phone.

Picnic

When we are very busy, then we don't walk all the way back to San Josep for lunch time. Instead, we take lunch on site at Limuranin. For that we prepare a place with big banana leafs.

New Views On myforestfarm

I defined a few positions on myforestfarm from where Rodolfo Ferrer is taking pictures regularly. Over the years we will see the growth of the plants from this prespectives. Here are the latest pictures. The sets of photos from the differnt views can be seen in separate slideshows. Check the posts from January 2010.

Vegetables

In September 2009 we lost many Papaya which were planted near the stream at the bottom of the farm, because of a typhoon. The soil is very fertile there and as a substitute Rodolofo Ferrer started to plant vegetables.

Cutting Kogon Grass Along The Contour Lines

Rodolfo Ferrer and his sons are regularly cutting the Kogon grass, so that the seedlings get enough sunlight and to avoid Kogon grass fires. Since the seedlings are still small it is a
cumbersome work that needs additional workers.

Commodity

Since I have started myforestfarm in 2008 I was searching for a concept to finance the project. Finally I had an idea in the summer of 2010. I created a commodity that reflects the meaning of Carbon Credits.
The pictures in the slide show are for sale through www.myforestfarm.com for 10 Euro, only.
The artistic concept is explained on the website, too.

Kogon Grass Fire Protection

During the dry season, the Kogon grass could easily start to burn. This is why we are regularly cutting the grass. But on the neighboring lots nobody is taking care of the grass and we have to protect myforestfarm from the fire. Here are some pictures how Rodolfo Ferrer was able to prevent the fire from burning myforestfarm with the help of some of his friends.

Neighbor Soil Erosion

After heavy rains, soil was eroding, near the western border of myforestfarm, on the neighboring lot. Over there, they were planting mountain rice before, but without applying methods that should prevent erosion. For example planting along the contour line of the mountain.
